Sandown-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
Built by Vosper Thornycroft, at Woolston, Southampton and launched on 25 November 1999, by the ship’s Lady Sponsor, Lady Alynne Dunt, wife of Vice Admiral Sir John Dunt. HMS Ramsey commissioned on September 2000.
She was one of originally twelve Sandown-class Mine Counter-Measures Vessels (MCMV) in the Royal Navy, constructed with glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) hulls.
Her homeport was HMNB Clyde, where she was part of the MCM1 Squadron, until decommissioning on 4 August 2021 at Rosyth dockyard.
