Sandown-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
Built by Vosper Thornycroft, at Woolston, Southampton and launched on 11 March 1997, commissioning on 14 May 1998.
She is one of originally twelve Sandown-class Mine Counter-Measures Vessels (MCMV) in the Royal Navy, constructed with glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) hulls.
Her homeport is HMNB Clyde, where she is part of the MCM1 Squadron.
The primary responsibility of the Sandown-class is to seek out, detect and destroy mines, using the SeaFox unmanned underwater vehicle and a team of highly skilled Mine Clearance Divers.
Motto: “Diligenter Pensa - Diligent Thought”
