Queen Elizabeth-class Aircraft Carrier
HMS Queen Elizabeth is the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier, the largest warship ever built for the United Kingdom's Royal Navy and capable of carrying up to forty aircraft. She was named by Queen Elizabeth II on 4 July 2014, and began sea trials on 26 June 2017. She will be formally commissioned by the end of 2017. The painting was commissioned for the ship, and shows HMS Queen Elizabeth in company with former HMS Ark Royal Carriers. Painted in 2010 as an officially commissioned painting, it was initially on display at the Fleet Air Arm Museum until 2018, when it was presented to the ship.
