Sandown-class Mine Countermeasures Vessel
Built by Vosper Thornycroft, at Woolston, Southampton and launched on 25 November 1991.
Commissioned 19 February 1993. Decommissioned 15 October 2010.
She is one of originally twelve Sandown-class Mine Counter-Measures Vessels (MCMV) in the Royal Navy, constructed with glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) hulls.
Her homeport was HMNB Clyde, where she was part of the MCM1 Squadron.
The primary responsibility of the Sandown-class is to seek out, detect and destroy mines, using the SeaFox unmanned underwater vehicle and a team of highly skilled Mine Clearance Divers.
