Westland Aérospatiale Gazelle AH1
During the Falklands War, nine Gazelle helicopters from 3 Commando
Brigade Air Squadron performed valuable duties operating
from flight decks of Royal Navy ships. They were
urgently fitted with pods for 68mm SNEB rockets for the campaign,
along with various other equipment, armour plating,
flotation gear and a folding blade mechanism.
A total of 16 decorations were awarded to personnel from the
Squadron, including the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM).
