A gas-turbine powered, shipborne anti-submarine helicopter,
designed specifically to operate from Royal Navy frigates.
The British Army version was the Scout, the Royal Navy version
was originally named the Sea Scout. It carried no sonar and
operated as a Manned Torpedo-Carrying Helicopter (MATCH),
in conjunction with the mother ship, which directed it to the
target. In service from 1964, it was withdrawn in 1988, when
the last Type 12 Rothesay class frigate decommissioned.
